Youths aged 24 and under (and those who support them) who are affected by substance or alcohol use can access our programs.

Days Ahead

  • Full assessment of a youth’s substance use and its’ impact on relationships, education/employment, legal, leisure, physical, and emotional health
  • Counseling for the youth and their caregivers
  • Services available for young people affected by someone else’s substance use
  • Additional referrals as required to meet client needs
  • Community support and education

Services available throughout Halton

  • Designed to be offered over four 90-minute sessions
  • For “at risk” youth who have been identified by parents/caregivers, police, and/or other agencies
  • Workshops available to be run in a community setting or office based
  • Groups focus on substance use awareness, mental health, decision making or life skills with the goal being to improve positive, healthy decision making

Youth Outreach Program (YOP)

The program offers outreach and office-based support intended for individuals that are faced with diverse needs, including but not limited to: risk of becoming unhoused, barriers to accessing office-based services, poly-substance use and accessing education and/or employment.

  • Active outreach support to assist young people, 15-24, in overcoming barriers to address their substance use concerns, with or without mental health issues
  • Flexible schedules to accommodate clients
  • Case management provided with this program

Know the Deal Program (Youth)

Know the D.E.A.L is a psycho-educational program designed for youth across Halton. Know the D.E.A.L. is a 3-day workshop for Grade 10 students provided in both the public and catholic school boards. Know the D.E.A.L. provides education for students focusing on substances, harm reduction, identifying triggers, and how to start making changes. The program also outlines in detail the impact substances have on the body and brain. All students leave with community resources regarding where to access support.

Day 1: Cannabis, Vaping & Smoking
Day 2: Depressants, Hallucinogens, Ketamine, Alcohol, Benzodiazepines, Opioids and Overdose
Day 3: Stimulants, The Continuum of Drug Use, Phone and Gaming Addiction, Stages of Change, Triggers, Healthy Coping Strategies, Finding Alternatives
