Maria has over 20 years of progressive leadership in the public sector. Her career first started in operations in the land-based casino gaming sector in Ontario, before steering successful transformation and modernization initiatives with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, and then developing a strong team that supported the launch of iGaming Ontario. She also taught business finance at Mohawk College for several years and has a passion for teaching and developing teams.
Maria excels at leading strategic and transformation projects while maintaining a high focus on governance and controls. She has extensive experience in developing compliance and oversight frameworks that foster innovation.
Maria was first appointed to the non-director role for the Governance and Risk Committee for ADAPT in June 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Business Administration and Sustainable Commerce. She also earned green and blackbelt certifications in Six Sigma. She was born and raised in Burlington.
